We have the privilege of caring for many children, adults, and their families in the comfort of their own home and through our hospice services, Little Havens and Fair Havens.
Like many people, they had preconceptions of what hospice care meant. They have agreed to tell their story to you in the hope that it sheds some light on the reality of how hospice care can benefit families in the toughest of times, and overcome fears of what hospices are like.
“At Fair Havens, I like the companionship and the friendliness. You can always be sure of a smile"
“I don’t even want to think about Little Havens not being here, we just want it to be available forever.”
“I’ve never experienced care like this anywhere. No one has ever sat down next to my bed and talked to me as much as the nurses do here."
“Without Little Havens I think we’d feel really lost, and alone.”
“The Care Team supported us through it all; they helped us navigate something nobody ever plans for."
"Having Little Havens - a place that is safe and kind, means everything. It's the opportunity to feel a little bit normal."
“If Lucy needs to go to the hospital, our family unit has to be broken up but at Little Havens, we can be together.”
“Fair Havens has changed my outlook on life. Instead of worrying about what could go wrong, I focus on the good things."
“Coming to Fair Havens makes you realise you can still do things – you don’t have to sit indoors."
“When I was referred, I was a bit unsure and felt overwhelmed and anxious, but Fair Havens was nothing like I imagined."
“You don’t realise how much life you have in you until you come to places like this. It gives you a purpose"
"Little Havens is a safe place where Millie and all the family can come to be ourselves and kind of just have our little bubble."
