Occasional
volunteer roles

Do you want to offer your time as a volunteer, but do not have a set time commitment to give?

Occasional volunteering is a great way to get involved, but on a flexible basis. We are looking for volunteers to help at events and collections, where you decide how much time you would like to offer. If you would like to offer your time, you will be provided with full support and an event briefing so you feel adequately supported to carry out your role.

We're looking for volunteers for our Chelmsford Marathon on 13th October 2024.

There is a range of volunteer roles available at the event, including marshalling the route, manning the finish line, registration and supporting runners dropping off baggage.

We'd ask volunteers to be able to support the event from 8am until 4pm, depending on your role and location. Please note this role does involve standing so is suitable for a volunteer who could comfortably stand for the duration of their shift. Volunteers need to be able to communicate effectively and engage with the public.

Christmas Tree Collection

Volunteers with Vans Needed January 2025

As we prepare for the upcoming festive season, Havens Hospices is looking for volunteers with vans to help with our Charity Christmas Tree Collection! This service has been a huge success and continues to grow each year, helping us raise vital funds to support the families who rely on our care.

The collection will take place on:

Friday, 10th January 2025
Saturday, 11th January 2025
Monday, 13th January 2025

We’re reaching out to see if you, or anyone you know, might be able to lend a hand by volunteering with a van to help collect real Christmas trees which have served their festive purpose and will be recycled for our hospice gardens. Each vehicle requires at least two volunteers, and your support will help us continue to provide essential care and ‘make every day count’ for those in need.

If you’re interested, please let us know:

Which day(s) you’re available
The number of vans you can supply
The size of your van(s)

We would be incredibly grateful for your help and promise it will be a fun and rewarding experience, all while supporting a great cause.

Thank you so much for considering this opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you!

We’re excited to announce that our Christmas Tree Collection service is returning for another year, and we need your help! We’re looking for volunteers to assist with canvassing (leaflet dropping) in the SS0-SS9 areas to help spread the word about this important service.

Whether you’re a local resident who can cover your own road, or someone happy to take on a larger area, your time will make a huge difference. We’ll provide all the leaflets, and the canvassing period will run from December 16th to December 30th.

By volunteering, you’ll be helping to promote this event and support local hospice care.

Thank you for your support!
