We have the privilege of caring for many children, adults, and their families in the comfort of their own home and through our hospice services, Little Havens and Fair Havens.
Like many people, they had preconceptions of what hospice care meant. They have agreed to tell their story to you in the hope that it sheds some light on the reality of how hospice care can benefit families in the toughest of times, and overcome fears of what hospices are like.
“Little Havens helps to keep us sane, because we have got that place we can turn to when we need a bit of a break.”
“The Community Team has given us opportunities to go out when we wouldn't feel comfortable leaving Oscar with anyone else."
"It was so hard in the beginning, but slowly Fair Havens started to unlock a part of me which showed I could have a better life."
“As soon as we stepped into the hospice, the nurses were absolute angels to Ray, myself and my daughter."
"You come to realise when your child has a severe health condition that it's the normal days that are so important."
“Life without Little Havens would be hard; I’d be broken without that support.
“It’s a very special place where we feel safe and understood."
"Fair Havens is like the sea. If you don't dip your toe in, you don't realise how warm the water is."
"Without Little Havens we wouldn’t feel as positive and strong as we do now."
“They looked after me just as much as they looked after her. I know she would have been over the moon with it, the way it was.”
"The biggest thing the children love about Little Havens is they can be completely themselves; it gives them the space and freedom to play together"
"It’s hard to put into words, but thank you to everyone that supports Little Havens because it makes such a difference to us and our little boy”
