FAQs

Our shops are open 9am-5pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday

If you would like to donate please drop goods into your nearest Havens Hospices shop between opening hours. Please do not leave donations outside these times as they may be removed.

If you can't visit one of our shops, we also accept postal donations.

If you sign up to Gift Aid, it means that for every £1 we raise from the sale of your goods we can claim a further 25p from HM Revenue and Customs.

If you would like to participate in the Gift Aid scheme, please complete this form online here or ask to complete a form next time you visit a Havens Hospices shop.

We accept a wide range of donated goods and are grateful for anything that you are able to donate, including; all types of clothing, shoes and accessories, books, DVD’s and CD’s, bric-a-brac, toys and games. Our Prittlewell shop sells small electrical items so any donations would be greatly appreciated. You can drop off any small working electrical items during any of our shops' opening hours. Please note we are unable to accept furniture, large electrical items or white goods.

Our Prittlewell Shop located on Prince Avenue accepts donations of small electrical items in working condition including small kitchen appliances (except microwaves), electronic toys, hair straighteners, curling tongs, small lamps, irons, games consoles and radios.

Small electrical items can be donated to any of our shops across Essex to be sold in our Prittlewell shop or on eBay.

Please note we are unable to accept white goods such as washing machines, fridges and freezers etc.

Yes! You can shop and support Havens Hospices online 24/7 on Depop and eBay. We also sell a range of preloved books through our Amazon store here.

We are currently only accepting card payments at all our shops. This was implemented during the pandemic to help reduce the risk of infection by handling coins and notes.

However, there are other benefits to the charity and our colleagues too. It reduces the risk of theft and robbery when cash is on the property, and reduces costs associated with banking cash, meaning more of what we raise can be spent on providing free hospice care for our community.

We do review this decision regularly and will alert customers should the situation change.

As a charity seller we do our best to authenticate designer pieces - taking recognised brand markings, labels, packing and overall quality into account. However, due to this being a donated item we are often without the original proof of purchase so can never know its true origins.

Our shop located on West Road, Shoebury is now home to our E-commerce team who manage our online stores including eBay and Depop so customers can shop with us 24/7 at their convenience.

As this is now operating as an office space, unfortunately we are unable to accept donations at West Road. However, your nearest Havens Hospices shop is located a short drive away next to Shoebury Asda and we would be more than happy to accept them there.
