To make the day both safe and enjoyable, here are our safety guidelines:

  • Riders MUST always wear a cycle helmet.
  • Rider numbers must always be worn, one on the rider and the other on the bike.
  • Riders will need to register on arrival and hand their number in on their return.
  • Riders must abide by the highway codes, RED means STOP.
  • Riders must always cycle SAFELY; the roads are not closed so we ask riders to be careful; it is NOT a race.
  • For punctures or mechanical problems which riders cannot fix an emergency contact number is available and bike mechanics will assist.
  • Anyone retiring or leaving must call the emergency number so that all riders are accounted for.
  • We have tried to avoid main roads wherever possible but there are several points on the route where you will need to either ride on or cross a main road.
  • Riders are to keep to the left, allowing vehicles to pass. Riders must not ride more than two abreast and stay in a single line when there are any vehicles approaching from either
  • Pedal for The J’s signs are black arrows on a blue background, or black text on a blue background. These are the only instruction signs to follow.
  • Riders need to be careful on the uneven surfaces, looking out for pot holes in the road.
  • This route is a popular cycle route and riders are asked to be vigilant for other cycling groups who they may cross paths with.
