Day Hospice is part of Fair Havens Community Hospice Service. Our services are available to adults aged 18 and over who have a life-limiting condition, living in Southend, Castle Point and Rochford.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of health care professional. We focus on individualized care and activities which help keep you living well and as independently as possible. We're here to support you, and your family, whatever stage of your illness you are at.
We offer a comprehensive range of services which will be discussed with you in more detail during your initial assessment.
The Day Hospice is open Monday - Friday and on occasional Saturdays for drop-in workshops, clinics, carers groups and living well sessions.
It is located on the ground floor for easy access. Limited parking is available in front of Day Hospice, but there is off-street parking along Second Avenue. Alternatively transport can be provided by our team of volunteer drivers. Information regarding community transport such as Wyvern Transport will be provided at assessment. Please speak to a member of staff for more information.
what services do you offer?
Clinical Assessment - Our medical and nursing team will provide a holistic assessment and ongoing review of clinical needs such as pain, nausea, end of life care planning for the patient and their family, support control with clinical interventions such as infusions and transfusions.
Physiotherapy - Inidividualised assessments to enable patients to maintain their independence, improve confidence and manage symptoms. Interventions include exercise, breathlessness, management, acupuncture and equipment advice / provision.
Occupational Therapy - Supporting patients to optimise independence and wellbeing through physical, psychological and social activity and support, and equipment / adaptions equipment.
Complementary Therapy - A range of supportive therapies offered alongside medical treatment. Many people with life-limiting illnesses use these to help them cope with the disease and the side-effects of treatments. The therapies we provide are massage, aromatherapy, Indian head massage, reflexology and nail file and polish.
Creative Therapy - Enabling patients to develop their creativity and try something new, while engaging in an activity which is relaxing and meaningful during this difficult time in their lives. Activities include; painting, creative writing, photography and gardening.
Counselling - Available for patients and their carers.
Family Support - carers support, financial advice regarding benefits and other financial matters.
Following your referral and initial assessment
We will agree a Support Plan with you. This will enable you to identify your individual needs and goals. Together, we will develop a plan to help you in achieving your goals. This may involve you attending one day a week for six to 12 weeks or accessing our services on a seasonable basis, for example; out-patient appointment with Clinical Nurse Specialist, complementary therapy treatments or counselling.
