As a trusted provider of palliative care for over 40 years, we have developed many meaningful and long-term relationships with Trusts and Foundations that support our charitable mission - from small local organisations to large national funders. Our trust support also includes 19 years of committed multiyear funding from Oak Foundation for both Little Havens and Fair Havens.
We are always looking to build new relationships. We are fortunate that our network of supporters make use of all means available to help support their local hospice. Many companies, from retailers to large corporates offer workplace grants - the small act of nominating Havens Hospices for a grant with your employer can have a massive impact.
Last year employee nominated grants paid for 1,344 hours of care for adults living in South-East Essex and children with incurable and life limiting conditions across Essex. DAFs are rising in popularity and it’s easy to see why; with the possible tax benefits of trusts and foundations and less fees and administration.
If you would like to award a grant to Havens Hospices via a DAF, our FAQs should have much of the information needed.

DAF Anonymity Preference
We respect every supporter's wishes. For grantees who do not wish to remain anonymous, we welcome the opportunity to thank you and invite you to visit us at Little Havens or Fair Havens for a tour. We would follow all data protection legislation and the Fundraising Code of Conduct guidance on contacting you and provide a level of communications you were happy with. This can be from a simple personalised thank you letter, to tours of the buildings, invites to events and social media coverage.

Gift aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give the charity, we will currently receive an extra 25p from HMRC. This means that a £10 donation, is worth £12.50 to the charity with Gift Aid – and it doesn’t cost you a thing. It can apply to donations from an individuals (not Trusts or DAF’s) of any amount, large or small, cash, cheque, postal order, direct debit, standing orders, debit or credit card or even in a foreign currency. For us to claim Gift Aid you must fill out a Gift Aid Declaration Form and be a UK taxpayer. The gift aid we claim from your donation should not exceed the amount of tax paid over the financial year.
As well as donating gifts of money, individuals can also help charities by gifting shares. This can provide a significant source of income to the charity and can also be a tax effective way for the donor to give if they are publicly quoted shares (listed on the London Stock Exchange).
The organisation ShareGift will also take unwanted shares of any size and value and turn them into gifts for your nominated charity (sharegift.org). You can find out more here.
