Take part in Southend’s premier running event – the Southend Half Marathon.

The coastal course is fast, flat and traffic free making it ideal for first time half marathon runners as well as more seasoned runners looking to achieve a PB. There is lots of support along the route and all finishers will receive a bespoke medal.

Every mile is helping us continue ‘Making every day count’ for children and adults with incurable conditions in Essex.

This event is kindly sponsored by Utilize so Havens Hospices are offering 10 free spaces for Utilize employees and their friends and families.

By entering the 2022 Southend Half Marathon you are declaring yourself medically fit to take part and understand that the organisers, sponsors or any assisting person or persons will be in no way responsible for any injury, illness, loss or damage to your person or property incurred during or as a result of the event or for any damage caused by you to other person’s property. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry for any reason.

ENTRY FEES: Entry fees cannot be refunded if you are unable to attend the event for any reason.

DEFERRING YOUR PLACE: If you are unable to run due to injury, we will be happy to defer your place for 1 year only. All requests must be made by email to prior to 11th June 2022.

TRANSFERS: For health and safety reasons transfers are not permitted without written consent from the race organisers. Should you wish to transfer your place to another runner this must be requested by email to for consideration prior to 12th May 2022. No transfers will be permitted after this date.

PICTURES: You understand that pictures/filming taken during the event may be used by Havens Hospices to promote the work the charity does in the future. If you would not like your pictures to be used, please email

MEDICAL: Although the organisers accept no responsibility for any injuries, a medical team will be in attendance. Marshals will summon medical assistance on the route if required.

DATA SHARING: Please note that in the case of a medical emergency on the day of the event your personal details will be shared with our event medical providers. In order for us to collate the race results your name, bib number, gender and runner club will be shared with FR Systems who provide our chip timing and race results service. Race results will be published on both the Havens Hospices website and social media platforms in addition to FR Systems own website unless you notify us to remove your data.
