Safety Guidelines

Conditions of entry

By entering the 2024 Southend Half Marathon you are declaring yourself medically fit to take part and understand that the organisers, sponsors or any assisting person or persons will be in no way responsible for any injury, illness, loss or damage to your person or property incurred during or as a result of the event or for any damage caused by you to other person’s property. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry for any reason.

AGE RESTRICTION: Min age 17yrs on race day.

CANCELLATION: Should the event need to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as adverse weather conditions, we ask you to consider your entry fee as a donation to the charity.

ENTRY FEES: Entry fees cannot be refunded if you are unable to attend the event for any reason.

DEFERRING YOUR PLACE: Due to an increasing amount of deferrals and the impact on our administration, we are unable to offer deferral of entries to next years race. Your entry fee has been used to pay for medals, suppliers, equipment, medical cover, security, traffic management, administration etc well in advance of race day. If deferrals were enabled, those fees would still need to be paid again next year but without the revenue income so the event wouldn’t be sustainable. Please note that participants whom deferred their entry from 2023 will be honoured and will be invited to register for 2024. Deferrals will not be possible from 2024.

TRANSFERS: For health and safety reasons transfers are not permitted without written consent from the race organisers. Should you wish to transfer your place to another runner this must be requested by email to llock@havenshospices.org.uk for consideration prior to 9th May 2024. No transfers will be permitted after this date.

PICTURES: You understand that pictures/filming taken during the event may be used by Havens Hospices to promote the work the charity does in the future. If you would not like your pictures to be used, please email llock@havenshospices.org.uk

MEDICAL: Although the organisers accept no responsibility for any injuries, a medical team will be in attendance. Marshals will summon medical assistance on the route if required.

DATA SHARING: Please note that in the case of a medical emergency on the day of the event your personal details will be shared with our event medical providers. In order for us to collate the race results your name, bib number, gender and runner club will be shared with FR Systems who provide our chip timing and race results service. Race results will be published on both the Havens Hospices website and social media platforms in addition to FR Systems own website unless you notify us to remove your data.
