Reg Ramm MBE has been involved with Havens Hospices since the very beginning, and in 2019 was recognised with the highest volunteering honour, the Badge of the Order of Mercy, after dedicating more than 37 years of his life to supporting Havens Hospices.
Reg, a former accountant and company secretary, has served two terms totalling eight years as a Trustee and is now a Director of the Havens Hospices Trading Companies and remains on the charity board as a Co-opted Trustee which does not hold the Companies House Directorship.
He said: “I describe the start of the charity as an acorn which has turned into a mighty oak and forever keeps growing. Through all the changes, the one constant is the excellent care we give to patients and families at their time of need, and I am proud of that.”
When Reg was awarded The League of Mercy award in 2019, he said, “I am proud and humbled by this honour, but I really believe I have accepted this on behalf of all our volunteers. We are so lucky to have the number of volunteers we do giving their time and energy.”
