Paul Althasen is a high-profile figure in the telecoms industry and has now branched out into other business areas such as financial processing, property and insurance. Although Paul now mostly lives in London, he was born and raised in Thorpe Bay, his family still live in the town and many of his companies are still based in the area.

Paul said, “I had been a supporter of Havens Hospices’ for many years when I was approached to assist with their fundraising for the new adult hospice. It was clear to me that the area needed a fit for purpose facility, and the existing site was clearly no longer suitable. Little did I know that I would be experiencing their care first hand when my father was struck with a debilitating Parkinson’s-like condition called MSA (Multiple System Atrophy). I was privileged to be able to spend the final hours with him and the amazing, supportive staff at Havens Hospices. The Care Team somehow managed to create a sense of warmth and peace for me and my family during this difficult time. The work and empathy they showed us will always stay with me, and I am glad to be able to continue my support.”
