Liz Mell

Born in Southend, Liz qualified as a nurse and worked in the NHS for a number of years before spending the rest of her career working for charities specialising in the support of children and adults with complex and multiple needs and disabilities. Her career took her from working directly with patients and families to quality and operational management and, latterly, to a senior leadership role for a national charity. She gained experience of working with multi-disciplinary professional and clinical teams, and of using audits, observations and data to monitor and evaluate services regulated by the Charity Commission, Care Quality Commission and Ofsted.

Liz lives in Benfleet with her husband Allan. She enjoys spending time with her family and granddaughters, listening to music – especially live and travelling the UK in their campervan with their border terrier.

Liz joined the Havens Hospices board in 2019, is a member of the Care Committee and took on the role of Chair of Trustees in 2020. She is keen to continue to contribute her knowledge and skills for the benefit of the charity. She is passionate about the care and support provided by the hospices to our community, committed to supporting and developing its amazing staff and volunteers and determined to ensure that it can meet the needs of more patients and families long into the future.
