The Waddle-on-Sea online auction is now live, giving the public the chance to bid on their favourite sculptures from the trail. With 31 large penguins and six small sculptures up for grabs, it’s a unique opportunity to own a piece of this summer’s much-loved art trail – all while supporting a vital local cause.
All proceeds will go to Havens Hospices, which provides specialist care and support for people of all ages living with incurable conditions across Essex.
In addition to the online auction, a Grand Auction night will take place on Thursday 25 September, hosted by Clive Emson Auctioneers and Stacey’s Auctioneers and Valuers, both generously donating their time and expertise for the event.
Due to limited capacity, attendance at the in-person auction is by ticket only, with spaces allocated by the charity. To avoid missing out, supporters are encouraged to participate via the online auction, which is open to all and offers a fantastic way for people to get involved, wherever they may be.
Paul Bridgeman, Regional Director and Auctioneer at Clive Emson, said, “We are delighted to be supporting Havens Hospices as Auction Partner for the Waddle-on-Sea Art Trail. Along with so many wonderful businesses across Essex who have sponsored the sculptures and the incredible artists behind them, we’re thrilled to play our part in the Auction.
“Naturally, we’re aiming to raise as much money as possible for Havens Hospices, so pick your favourite, place your bid and be part of something truly amazing. We aim to put on a show, so make sure you don’t miss out.”
Mark Stacey, from Stacey’s Auctioneers and Valuers, said: “This will be the third time Stacey’s has supported Havens Hospices with the art trails’ Grand Auction. The whole team at Stacey’s will be helping with the auction, and we hope this event will raise even more vital funds than previous years.”
Vanessa Harvey, Project Manager for Waddle-on-Sea, said: “The Waddle-on-Sea Auction is a fantastic way to celebrate the end of our summer filled with stunning artwork across Southend and Leigh-on-Sea. It’s also a unique chance for supporters to take home their favourite penguin sculptures – all while supporting a truly important local cause. The specialist care and support provided by Havens Hospices simply wouldn’t be possible without community events and fundraisers like Waddle-on-Sea.”
There will be 37 lots going to auction. To bid online, register your interest to bid in person on the night or for more information, visit www.waddleonsea.co.uk/auction.
