Much-loved Penguin Sculpture Finds a New Home with Raffle Winner

A popular small penguin sculpture has found its forever home after being won in the Waddle-on-Sea Raffle.

Local resident Tanya Harding was delighted to win the first prize, a beautiful small sculpture titled Daisy, in this year’s art trail’s Raffle, which raised an incredible £12,500 in support of Havens Hospices.

The raffle, which drew hundreds of trail-goers and supporters from the community, featured five prizes in total. Daisy – created by Sarah Nash and donated for the cause – was one of the stars of the trail, helping to attract record ticket sales.

All proceeds from the Waddle-on-Sea campaign help fund Havens Hospices’ specialist care and support for adults and children living with complex or incurable conditions throughout Essex.

Vanessa Harvey, Waddle-on-Sea Project Manager said: “We are thrilled with the generosity shown by everyone who took part. Thousands of trail goers fell in love with Daisy, with lots of people telling me how much they wanted to win the small sculpture throughout the summer.

“Every pound raised helps us continue providing vital care and comfort to local families when they need it most and a huge congratulations to Tanya – we know Daisy is going to be looked after well in her new home.”

Winner Tanya said she was “absolutely over the moon” to have won the sculpture: “It’s such a beautiful piece, and to know that the tickets I purchased have helped raise money for such an important cause makes it even more special. I would also like to thank artist Sarah Nash for creating such a beautiful sculpture – we are besotted with Daisy, who is very loved and takes pride of place in our home.”

Havens Hospices would like to thank everyone who took part in Waddle-on-Sea’s Raffle, Farewell and Auction events. Thanks to the generosity of the community, this year’s trail was a great success raising more than £580,000 in total.
