On Saturday 11th April, supporters took part in the Little Havens Fire and Lego Walk, held during the Chelmsford Takeover at Chelmsford Bond Street. Participants walked barefoot across scorching hot coals and sharp Lego bricks, all in support of a meaningful cause.
The event has raised more than £11,000 in sponsorship for Little Havens, Essex’s only children’s hospice, and donations are still coming in. The charity provides specialist care and support to babies, children and young people living with incurable conditions, as well as vital support for their families.
Lucy Lock, Community Engagement Manager at Havens Hospices, the charity Little Havens is a part of, said: “It was amazing to see people of all ages come together at the Fire and Lego Walk during the Chelmsford Takeover. There was such a fantastic atmosphere, with brave participants embracing the experience, and the local community supporting and cheering them on from the sidelines.
“Events like this are so important for Little Havens, as they not only raise vital funds but also help raise awareness of the care and support we provide. We are extremely grateful to everyone who took part and supported the event.”
Little Havens needs to raise more than £79,000 a week to support everyone who relies on their care, making events like the Fire and Lego Walk and wider community support vital. If you would like to get involved, the charity holds multiple events throughout the year, with something for everyone. Visit https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/support-us/events/ to find out more.
