Local Businesses Come Together for Annual Charity Football Match

Businesses from across South East Essex will be ditching their suits for studs for an annual football match in aid of local hospice care.

On the 11th May 2023, Southend United Football Club will welcome staff from Barclays, Ayers & Cruiks, BTMK, Barrons, Paul Robinson Solicitors, MWS, Rickard Luckin, Affinity Group, Azets, Howard and Stapleton, and Revive Digital to raise funds to support local children and adults living with incurable conditions.

Organisers are inviting the public to come along, cheer on the players and get involved in activities including an auction, raffle and a fun penalty shoot-out challenge for children and adults. Ex-Blues players will also be in attendance to throw their support behind the players on the night.

The charity must raise more than £85,000 every week to be there when a family is told there is no cure for their loved one’s illness.  Its hospice services help by controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring for people of all ages at the end of their lives. This free, specialist care is there for as long as it’s needed, within the home and at its two hospices, Fair Havens and Little Havens.

Lydia Plews, Business Development Manager at Havens Hospices says: “We can’t thank Barclays enough for hosting and all the businesses who take part in this incredible fun annual fundraiser. To date businesses have raised over £150,000 which helps Havens Hospices continue providing specialist hospice care to families who rely on our services during the most difficult time.”

Entry is a donation on the gate at Roots Hall. Gates open at 5.30pm with Kick-Off at 6pm. For more information please visit www.havenshospices.org.uk/events
