Havens Hospices welcomes back Tree-Cycling collection service to support its care

Havens Hospices is welcoming back its Christmas Tree collection in the New Year to help raise vital funds for local hospice care.

The collection service will pick up real Christmas trees from households in return for a donation of a minimum of £7 on 6th and 7th January 2023. This year’s scheme will once again collect from the postcodes SS5, SS6, SS7 and SS9 only.

The proceeds raised will help to fund the charity’s specialist palliative nursing and supportive care for children and adults living with complex or incurable conditions.

This year’s collections are being kindly sponsored by local insulation company Saving Energy and all the trees collected will be turned into wood chippings by Essex Tree Services for free to be reused elsewhere.

Jane Hopkins, Community Engagement Manager at Havens Hospices said: “This is the third year we have run our Christmas Tree Collection Service and each year sees more real trees recycled to help raise vital funds for our care.

“The scheme so far has raised over £8,000 which helps fund free specialist hospice care across Essex. We hope to collect even more trees this year so we can continue to provide even more care for more families in 2023.

“So, instead of giving yourself the gruelling task of trying to squeeze your Christmas tree in your car for a trip to the local tip, why not book a collection service with us? We are so grateful for the support from our sponsors Saving Energy, Essex Tree Services and the other local businesses who have already offered their time and vans to make the collections possible.”

Havens Hospices is looking for more volunteers with vans that are kindly able to offer their time to assist with collecting trees. If you can help please contact Jane Hopkins at jhopkins@havenshospices.org.uk.

To book a collection service visit www.havenshospices.org.uk/treecollection before Tuesday 3rd January.
