Havens Hospices is bringing Christmas cheer to Basildon to raise vital funds for children with life-limiting conditions who need specialist hospice care at Little Havens, the children’s hospice for Essex. The event, sponsored by Piccadilly Whip, will take place on Sunday 3rd December from 10am.
Supporters can expect the charity’s usual jolly Santa fun run where participants can either run, jog or walk 2K or 4K, with the addition of a 2K Doggy Dash, Christmas Market and an Elf Trail with the opportunity for families to see the ‘big man’ himself. This family-friendly event is suitable for all ages and abilities.
There will also be a toy sale, Christmas Carols and festive refreshments to enjoy whilst supporters soak up the Christmassy atmosphere.
Susie May, Events Fundraiser at Havens Hospices, says: “We cannot wait to bring a flash of Christmas cheer back to Wat Tyler Country Park this festive season with additional activities alongside our popular family-friendly Santa fun run. There truly isn’t a better way to kick off your festive celebrations with family and friends, and the dog!
“Those that attend every year really enjoy soaking up the Christmas spirit with their family, friends and colleagues, all while raising vital funds for Essex’s only children’s hospice, Little Havens.
“The charity must raise more than £83,000 each week to be there for every baby, child and young person who needs us in the community, and it’s events like this which make a huge difference. For some of the families we care for, this Christmas may be their last together. Every donation will help us to create treasured memories this festive season for families going through the most difficult times.”
Entry to the Santa fun run includes a free Santa suit for adults and for younger participants, a pair of reindeer antlers.
Tickets cost £15 for adults, £8 for children and a family ticket (two adults, two children) is £35. The Doggy Dash costs £5 per dog. Tickets for the Elf Trail and Santa’s Grotto will be available on the day only, cash and card will be accepted. There will be limited availability of these tickets.
