Our merry team of volunteers will collect and recycle your real Christmas tree from postcodes SS0-SS9 between Friday 10th Jan to Monday 13th January. Once collected, the trees are then chipped and recycled to be used on the grounds at our hospices in Prittlewell and Thundersley. More than £20,000 has been raised since we started our Christmas Tree Collection Service four years ago.
You can register to have your tree collected at https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/support-us/events/christmas-tree-recycling-collection-2025/
Bookings close at 9am on Tuesday 7th January. We are unable to take any bookings after this date and note that we can only take bookings online at https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/support-us/events/christmas-tree-recycling-collection-2025/
When will you be collecting trees?
Our team of lovely volunteers will be collecting trees from 9am Friday 10th January, through to Monday 13th January. Please note that we cannot guarantee which day your tree will be collected but they will all be collected by the end of Monday 13th January.
We suggest a minimum £7 donation to cover the cost of getting your tree collected and supporters are invited to make an additional donation should they wish.
This year, we have introduced a £21.50 “Havens Hero” donation, which covers the cost of getting your tree collected and the cost of half an hour's care, which will make a huge difference to a local family being cared for by Havens Hospices
Your tree must be ready to collect by 9am on Friday 10 January. Please note, we cannot guarantee what day or time your tree will be collected but it will be collected by Monday 13th January.
Please remember to decant any decorations, take the tree out of the pot (if it has one) or remove the base. We cannot remove or recycle these.
Due to our Health and Safety policy, our volunteers cannot enter your property. Your tree must be left in a clear, unobstructed, and visible location on the boundary or path in front of your property.
No, you do not have to be at home. Simply leave your tree in front of your property for one of our volunteers to collect.
If your tree hasn’t been collected by Tuesday 14th Jan, please email christmastree@havenshospices.org.uk
We will only be collecting real Christmas Trees from properties in the following postcode areas: SS0, SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4, SS5, SS6, SS7, SS8 and SS9.
If your local council have collected your tree before our volunteers have reached you, please email christmastree@havenshospices.org.uk so that we can inform our volunteers. We are aware that the council may also be collecting real Christmas trees as part of their usual waste and recycling service, and this may overlap with our collections. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer refunds in this situation and we hope you will consider your booking fee as a donation to Havens Hospices.
Absolutely! We rely on local businesses and individuals to volunteer their vans and time to help with the tree collections. Many hands make light work, so if you have a van and would like to get involved, please email us indicating if you’d like to help on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th or Monday 13th.
