Little Havens, the children’s hospice for Essex, is calling on fearless fundraisers to take part in an unforgettable Fire or Lego Walk challenge on Saturday, 11th April at the Chelmsford Bowl, Bond Street.
The challenge will test their courage while supporting vital specialist care for local babies and children living with incurable conditions.
Choosing between walking barefoot across smouldering hot coals reaching over 1,000 degrees, or navigating a path of small Lego bricks, both challenges promise to be once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will make every step count for children and their families cared for by Little Havens.
No experience is required for the fire walk; full training will be provided by UK Firewalk, one of the UK’s leading fire walk companies. The event is perfectly safe with professional guidance throughout.
The Fire and Lego Walk is part of the Chelmsford Takeover, organised by Chelmsford for You and Essex Cosplayers in aid of Little Havens. This spectacular brings characters and superheroes from the Big Screen and TV to life in Chelmsford City Centre, transforming the area with familiar heroes, show cars and comic book characters.
Lucy Lock, Community Engagement Manager at Havens Hospices, the charity Little Havens is a part of, said: “The Fire and Lego Walk is an incredible opportunity for people of all ages to challenge themselves while making a real difference. We need to raise more than £80,000 every single week, so events like this are crucial to ensuring we can be there for every baby, child or young person that needs us across Essex.”
Entry costs £25, with fire walk participants needing to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship and Lego walk participants asked to raise £60. This year, a special ‘Havens Hero’ entry is also available, which includes the event ticket plus a donation covering half an hour of care at the children’s hospice.
Participants in the Fire Walk must be 12 or older, while participants in the Lego Walk must be 5 or older. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
