A local charity is inviting members of the public to consider joining its Board of Trustees – helping to guide the charity’s future and ensure it continues to “make every day count” for people living with complex or incurable conditions, and those who care for them.
Havens Hospices, which has two hospices based in Prittlewell and Thundersley, is looking for compassionate, community-minded individuals who represent the diverse communities the charity serves. Unlike many governance roles, this opportunity does not require formal board experience or specialist healthcare knowledge. Instead, the charity is seeking people who bring lived experience, community insight, or a passion for making a difference.
Dawn Hathaway, Head of People and Organisational Development at the charity said, “At Havens Hospices, we want our Board to truly reflect the communities we serve. You don’t need to be an expert or have previous board experience – what matters most is your passion, your lived experience, and your connection to our local area.
“We’re looking for people who care about making a difference and want to use their insight to help us make every day count for the people who need us most.”
The voluntary role as a Trustee will help shape the strategic direction and governance of the charity, ensuring it remains inclusive, effective and sustainable in everything it does. Trustees attend quarterly board meetings, committee sessions and occasional events or visits across Havens Hospices’ services.
Havens Hospices provides specialist palliative and supportive care to children, young people and adults across Essex through its hospices – Fair Havens and Little Havens – and in the community.
The charity welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences who share its values of compassion, inclusion, and integrity.
