Brooke Saunders will be walking alongside her daughters, Destiny and Lexxi, and their aunt Demi, in honour of Brooke’s son Kody, who sadly died at just seven months old.
The walk taking place on Saturday, 20th September, also raises vital funds for Little Havens, part of Havens Hospices, which now supports Brooke’s daughter, Destiny, who has a complex, incurable heart condition.
Brooke shares, “In 2017, I lost my son Kody at just seven months old. He was born prematurely and completely opened my eyes to so much. While I was pregnant with Destiny, we found out at her 20-week scan that she had a rare heart defect and were told her life expectancy might just be six years.”
“Last year, Destiny was referred to Little Havens. Even though she’s doing well right now, her condition is life-limiting. Little Havens has been amazing to all of us – the hospice, the staff, the events. It’s like a home away from home. Destiny loves it there, as does her sister. They don’t just support the child – they support the whole family. The charity deserves nothing but the best, and we’re taking part to show our support.”
Glow for Havens is a brand-new event from Havens Hospices, offering a family-friendly evening walk with a glowing twist. Taking place this Saturday and starting at Little Havens Hospice in Daws Heath Road, Thundersley, participants will walk a 5k or 10k route lit with glow sticks and fancy dress, celebrating life, loved ones, and the specialist care Havens Hospices provides to local families.
All funds raised will go towards Havens Hospices, which includes Little Havens and Fair Havens, providing specialist care and support to babies, children, young people and adults living with complex or incurable conditions across Essex.
Online registration for this event is now closed, but you can still sign up on the day from 4.45pm. For more information, visit www.havenshospices.org.uk/glow
