Penguin Sculpture Meets Real-Life Counterparts to Celebrate New Art Trail Sponsor

Havens Hospices, is thrilled to welcome Stockvale Group Adventure Island as a new sponsor for the eagerly awaited ‘Waddle-on-Sea’ trail, which will be winging its way to the city of Southend-on-Sea for a free, family-friendly event in the summer.

To celebrate this exciting partnership, Daisy, a baby penguin sculpture painted by Sarah Nash, which will be the first prize in the trail’s raffle, made a special visit to Adventure Island’s partner company, Sealife Adventure, where she met real-life penguins inside their enclosure.

The heartwarming encounter saw the inquisitive penguins come face-to-face with their artistic counterpart, creating a unique and memorable moment that highlights how the project brings art and community spirit together whilst supporting local hospice care.

Waddle-on-Sea, created with Wild In Art, will see 30 super-sized penguin sculptures, along with smaller penguins designed by artists, and a huddle of small penguin sculptures created by schools and community groups, turning the city into an outdoor art gallery.

The art trail is made possible thanks to several partners and sponsors, like Stockvale Group, who are all supporting the trail. The trail will raise vital funds for the specialist care and support Havens Hospices provides in the local community for people of all ages living with an incurable condition and their families.

Adventure Island is part of the Stockvale Group of Companies, which also includes the Sealife Adventure Zooquarium, as well as a series of local restaurants and commercial radio stations.

James Miller, Operations Director, said, “Stockvale understands the importance of helping the community and does so through a number of projects, and it is an honour to be taking part in the trail.”

Vanessa Harvey, Project Manager for Havens Hospices, added, “We are delighted to have so many wonderful sponsors supporting our eagerly anticipated Waddle-on-Sea art trail. It’s great to see so many businesses across Essex coming together to support Havens Hospices, helping us to bring this brrrriliant, family-friendly event to life.”

The art trail will launch on 11 July and run till 3 September. For more information about Waddle-on-Sea, visit www.waddleonsea.co.uk or follow the art trail on social media @waddleonsea.
