Occasional volunteering is a great way to get involved, but on a flexible basis. We are looking for volunteers to help at events and collections, where you decide how much time you would like to offer. If you would like to offer your time, you will be provided with full support and an event briefing so you feel adequately supported to carry out your role.

Join our Christmas Tree Collection Service volunteer team for one or more of our collection days.
What's involved?
Do you have a van and could spare some time to help us?
Our Christmas Tree Collection simply wouldn’t be possible without the amazing volunteers and local businesses who give their time and vans to help us collect Christmas trees from across our community.
This year, we’re expanding our collection area to cover SS0–SS12, which means we need even more vans on the road. We’re looking for around 35–40 vans and collection crews to help make it possible.
No matter how big or small your van is, we’d love you to join our team and help us collect real Christmas trees from the local community.
Time commitment
From 8:30am till 4pm approx. (Depending on route)
What do you get?
- All volunteers will be given a planned collection route and all essential information before heading out.
Experience/skills required:
- Have a good level of physically fitness. Be able to lift and carry Christmas trees and be on your feet for long periods of time in different outdoor weather conditions.
- Be able to work well as part of a team.
- Be able to follow a planned collection route and instructions provided by the Havens Hospices team.
- Have good communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with other volunteers and the Havens Hospices team.
- Be friendly and respectful when representing Havens Hospices in the local community.
- For those driving, volunteers will need to be legally able to drive the vehicle being used and appropriately insured.
Please note: Volunteer collection crews must have access to their own van and hold valid Public Liability Insurance to take part.
