The charity, which provides specialist care and support for people of all ages living with complex or incurable conditions, is currently undertaking a project called Revisioning. This will define the future direction of Havens Hospices, including its Mission, Vision, Values and strategic priorities.
With shifts in the NHS, increasing funding pressures, and wider social and economic changes, the charity says now is the time to map out its future direction by listening to the people most important to its work—patients, families, volunteers, and supporters.
Amy Dearing, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said: “Whether people have experienced our care, volunteered in any capacity, supported us through a donation, visited one of our shops or taken part in a fundraising event, your voice matters. We want to understand what hospice care means to you and what you believe should be at the heart of Havens Hospices in the years to come.”
One local family who has experienced the care first-hand is the Mailley’s, whose dad, Ray, received care from Fair Havens:
Kat, Ray’s daughter, said, “Whilst the final weeks of Dad’s life were the most challenging, the attentive nature of the Care Team at the hospice and quality of the care was truly amazing. Being at Fair Havens made him feel at ease as the realisation set in that his condition had worsened, and it was almost the end.
“In the weeks and months after Dad’s death, we had time to reflect on how important this care was and how everyone should have the opportunity to be supported by Fair Havens when and if needed.
“If we can help Havens Hospices do that for more families like ours in the future, of course, we want to share our views. Every family deserves that kind of care and support when they need it most.”
The survey takes just 5–10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. The findings will be used to ensure the charity continues to meet the needs and values of the community it serves.
