Race4Business, sponsored this year by Fiserv, Birketts, Rickard Luckin and Tangent International, is a fun 5K race in Chelmsford which brings colleagues together for a social evening outside of the office.

This established event is returning to the city on Wednesday 3rd July from 5.30pm.

Race4Business has become a significant annual fixture in the business community calendar raising money for Havens Hospices, which provides specialist care and support to babies, children and young people, and their families, across the county.

This year marks the 25^th anniversary of the race, taking teams of businesses – sometimes in fancy dress or matching outfits – through Chelmsford’s Admirals Park and Central Park.

After participants have finished their run, food and drink stalls will be available for people to enjoy well deserved refreshments.

This event is suitable for all ages and abilities – the mainly flat course has no minimum speed or standard of fitness required; participants can walk, jog or run. There will also be prizes for the winning individuals, teams and best fancy dress, adding a competitive and team-building element to the event.

It’s thanks to events like Race4Business the charity can continue providing its specialist care absolutely free of charge to local families when they need a place to turn after the devasting news of an incurable or complex condition.

Rossella Inguscio, Corporate Fundraiser at Havens Hospices said: “We want this year’s event to be the biggest to date to mark the 25^th year of this special race. The demand for our care is increasing and we must raise more than £83,000 a week to be there for everyone who needs us during the most difficult times, and it’s thanks to the support from local businesses we can make this happen.

“To mark the anniversary, we’re asking participants to make an additional donation or raise sponsorship in support of our specialist care so we can be there for even more families across Essex and make this year our biggest fundraiser to date.

“Havens Hospices cannot wait to see as many of you as possible from businesses across Essex and London. You don’t have to be an experienced runner to take part, it’s all about having some fun in support of a great local cause.”
