The Havens Hospices charity shop in Prittlewell marked its 5th birthday with a small celebration, thanking its dedicated volunteers for their ongoing support on 22nd April.
Since opening, the shop has built a reputation for offering affordable finds for the local community, with every item priced at £3 of four for £10 excluding electricals and new goods. As one of the charity’s outlet stores, it provides an accessible way for people to shop sustainably while supporting a local cause. The Prittlewell shop is also one of the charity’s few dedicated electrical stores, offering a wide range of tested electrical items alongside everyday bargains.
Over the past five years, generous donations, loyal customers and committed volunteers have helped the shop raise thousands of pounds to support Havens Hospices’ specialist care.
Jackie May, Area Manager at Havens Hospices, said, “We’re incredibly grateful to the Southend community for their continued support over the past five years. Whether you’ve donated, shopped with us or volunteered your time, you’ve played an important part in helping us provide care to those who need it most. Our shops are at the heart of the community, and we simply couldn’t do this without you.”
Havens Hospices provides specialist compassionate care to children, young people and adults who are living with incurable conditions. They offer a wide range of care and support options for patients and their loved ones, based on their needs and wishes. This can be in the comfort of their own home, in the hospices – Fair Havens for adults or Little Havens for children – or a combination. All of this care is provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity of supporters, including those who donate and shop at its network of 27 charity shops.
