Little Havens unveils magical new cinema room for children and families

The magic of the movies has arrived at Little Havens, the children’s hospice for Essex, with the opening of a brand-new cinema room – a versatile space designed to bring joy, comfort and togetherness to the children and families it cares for.

Complete with a large screen, projector, blackout blinds and dark walls to recreate the true cinema atmosphere, the space offers children the chance to enjoy the big screen experience in a safe, calm environment. With no fixed seating, the room can be adapted with beds, beanbags or wheelchairs, ensuring every child can be comfortable and fully included.

The project has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Together for Cinema, local installer The Cinema Company, Monitor Audio and the wider AV industry, who all stepped up to help make this happen.

Head of Children’s Services at Havens Hospices, Emma Simpson says, “For many families supported by Little Havens, a public cinema visit just isn’t possible due to accessibility, sensory challenges or cost. This new facility removes those barriers and opens up new opportunities – from movie nights and gaming sessions to siblings’ weekends.

“Thanks to your support, these everyday experiences are now accessible to children who might otherwise miss out, helping them and their families make every day count together.”
