Fundraising Officer – Community

Contract: 37.5 hours per week - Temporary 18 month contract
Salary: £27,000
Location: Fair Havens (with travel between hospice sites as required)

We are currently recruiting a Fundraising Officer – Community to join our established Fundraising Department, to be involved in the planning, management and delivery of a programme of regional fundraising and challenge events maximising income and the profile of Havens Hospices. When required support  the Community Engagement Team across the Community Fundraising  income stream.

Candidates will have:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter able to work on their own and/or as part of a team
  • Experience in Event Management.
  • Experience of delivering talks and presentations.
  • Experience of charity fundraising and or community fundraising – voluntary or paid
  • Confident and engaging personality
  • Enthusiasm and integrity
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to build and maintain good working relationships with people.
  • Excellent organisational, project management skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task
  • Adaptable to change
  • Creativity, Imagination and innovative attitude towards fundraising
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Resilience particularly when faced with setbacks.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the Fundraising Regulator and Institute of Fundraising Regulations and Guidelines

  • Car driver / full driving licence with use of a car

The successful applicant will be a Hospice employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable people and carers, they may certainly come into contact with those who are caring for vulnerable people and or their carers. It is necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our entire community. In order to comply with our duty of care, Havens Hospices require all our staff and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID. Vaccination will be a condition of employment unless a medical evidenced exemption applies.

At Havens Hospices we care for children, young people and adults with complex or incurable conditions. Our specialist Care Teams can support them and their family living throughout illness, death and bereavement, in the comfort of their own home and through our hospice services, Fair Havens, The J’s and Little Havens.

Although you may not be giving direct care to our families, this role will have a direct effect on our care services.

Key responsibilities:

  • To plan and deliver designated events, personally carrying out event work, ensuring that activity proceeds according to agreed plans and time tables.
  • To monitor, review and develop all aspects of the event delivery.
  • Ensure timely and professional delivery of events maximising their future potential.
  • To maximise income generation from all events and to be responsible for reaching agreed financial targets.
  • To work with the Community Engagement Manager to develop Havens Hospices event strategy.
  • To work closely with the wider Fundraising Team to provide advice and guidance and to develop and increase event activity across Essex.
  • To negotiate contracts and liaise with venues, companies and contractors regarding event requirements to ensure excellent service and a successful event.
  • To work with the Income Generation Team to develop relationships with key corporate, business’ and individual supporters committed to fundraising for the organisation.
  • Report regularly to the Community Engagement Manager on progress of projects.
  • To develop first class relationships with the supporters ensuring they feel special are always treated with the highest priority and valued to Havens Hospices.
  • To ensure all events meet our health and safety requirements
