Fair Havens IPU Ward Manager

Contract: Full time - 37.5 hours per week

We are currently recruiting a Ward Manager to lead our established adult in-patient team at Fair Havens Hospice in Southend.

Band: 8a

The successful applicant will be pivotal in ensuring a high-quality patient experience for service users, and delivery high quality hospice care that is safe, caring, responsive, effective, and well-led.

Candidates will have:

  • Current NMC registration
  • Experience in running a ward or large team of people.
  • Experience in managing rotas and competing demands.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability to manage competing demands
  • A strong focus on quality and patient safety
  • The ability to manage others and lead and effective team
  • Able to build and maintain good working relationships both internal & external
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and diplomatically with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work on own initiative and work effectively within a team
  • Excellent keyboard and IT skills, working with Word, Teams, Excel and outlook

Key responsibilities

  • To lead and sustain an open, supportive culture that facilitates effective multi-professional team working.
  • To develop the adult inpatient unit with the support of the Head of Adult Services and Director of Care, to ensure that the hospices local community priorities are met
  • To facilitate, mentor and support the adult inpatient team to ensure a cohesive, balanced and efficient service delivery
  • To support the Head of Adult services in developing further commissioned services within the Inpatient unit.
