We are currently recruiting for a Counselling Service Lead to clinically lead, represent, manage and develop Havens Hospices’ psychological support service. Leading a team of counsellors who are responsible for providing bereavement and pre-bereavement support to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing following traumatic life events. As part of Havens Hospices multidisciplinary team to provide counselling and emotional support to the patients and families using Havens Hospices care services.

To provide support and education to other teams, agencies and professionals working with children, young people and adults with life-limiting illnesses and following bereavement.

At Havens Hospices we care for children, young people and adults with complex or incurable conditions. Our specialist Care Teams can support them and their family living throughout illness, death and bereavement, in the comfort of their own home and through our hospice services, Fair Havens and Little Havens.

Key responsibilities:

  • To clinically lead, represent, manage, and develop Havens Hospices’ psychological support service in line with professional guidelines.
  • To provide line management, supervision, and mentoring support to a team of adult counsellors.
  • To lead the recruitment and induction of counselling staff and volunteers.
  • To liaise with local training providers regarding student counselling placements and to lead the initial screening, recruitment, induction, supervision and mentoring of student counsellors in placement.
  • Observes personal duty of care concerning equipment and resources used in course of work.
  • To manage and allocate referrals in a timely and appropriate way.
  • To undertake assessments and support the team’s assessments. Using complex analytical skills to assess needs and determine the best course of action.
