06 December 2018

A fundraising group which raises money for Havens Hospices are holding their annual Christmas Fayre this weekend.

The Havens Hospices Helping Hands group was set up in 2016 by members of the local community to fundraise for Havens Hospices which includes Little Havens Hospice for children, Fair Havens Hospice for adults and The J’s for young people.

Since then the group have raised over £60,000 for the charity which provides respite, symptom management and end of life care to seriously ill children, young people and adults across Essex in their own homes or at the hospices. The group were awarded Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year in November by the Institute of Fundraising at their East Anglia awards.

On Sunday 9th December, 10:30am – 15:30pm, the group are holding a Festive Fun Day at Plumberow Primary Academy in Hockley. On the day there will be several festive and fun activities for all ages including face painting, a teddy tombola, a mulled wine and prosecco cart and Father Christmas will be in his grotto spreading Christmas cheer.

Lorraine Jibb, Chair of Havens Hospices Helping Hands said,

“This is our annual Christmas fundraising event and we are really looking forward to the day – we hope to see lots of people there and am hoping to raise over £3,000 this year. I’d like to thank all the kind individuals and businesses who donated gifts and prizes for our raffle and tombola and all the volunteers who will be helping us on the day.”

Community Fundraiser at Havens Hospices, Sally Bridger, added,

“The Havens Hospices Helping Hands group works extremely hard all year gathering toys and gifts to be used for a raffle, tombola and other stalls to raise funds as well as organising this fantastic annual Christmas fun day. At Havens Hospices we must raise £100,000 to be there for everyone who needs us and this is only possible thanks to our fundraising group and members of the local community who continue to support the hospices. Together, we’re ‘Making every day count’ for those we care for.”
