Havens Hospices are celebrating plans to build a new hospice with a festival on Sunday 9th September.

Havens Hospices will start building a new Fair Havens Hospice in Prittlewell in the autumn and is holding a Family Fun Festival to say thank you to the community for its continued support and for helping fundraise, bringing the charity’s vision of modern hospice care for Southend into a reality.

The event is free to attend, which is being held in Priory Park opposite the site for the new Fair Havens, starts at 11am and there will be plenty to see and do throughout the day; from live music and reptile encounters to a craft fair and mini farmer’s market to fairground rides, refreshments and much more.   Parking at Priory Park is limited, but Southend United Football Club is opening up their car park for those who are attending the event.

Emily Tucker, Community Engagement Officer for Havens Hospices said

"We’re really looking forward to celebrating taking ‘the next step’ in hospice care with the local community and this festival is the start of doing just that. We have the opportunity to create a larger, modern hospice that can care for twice as many patients, offer more treatments and support more families in a relaxing, friendly and welcoming environment.

“Everyone is invited to join us; there will be a chance to find out more about the new Fair Havens Hospice and what it will mean for the population of South East Essex, but the main aim of the day is to have fun and to thank the local community for their continued support.”

The new Fair Havens Hospice, with its welcoming and reassuring environment, will cover the population of Southend, Castle Point and Rochford, bringing together a range of specialist services to support people in making choices about their care from the day they receive their diagnosis, as they journey with their illness and as the end of their life approaches.

It will incorporate 16 in-patient bedrooms, increased Day Hospice services, additional family support and beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds.
