MKM Building Supplies, Chelmsford, are hosting an “Evening with the 2 Tony’s” at Chelmsford City Football Club on Friday June 23rd in aid of Little Havens.
Mark Ward, Branch Director, visited Little Havens recently and was so moved by the work Little Havens does and how the hospice operates that he immediately decided to set up an event to raise vital funds. MKM Chelmsford wanted to host a charity ball, but with a twist given the industry that they operate in. So they set about organising an event complete with hog roast, entertainment and guest speakers - West Ham Legends Tony Cottee and Tony Gale at Chelmsford City Football Club; an idea that proved to be very popular with the MKM clientele who quickly snapped up the 130 tickets.
Mark Ward, Branch Director MKM Building Supplies, said:
“You go to Little Havens with preconceptions that it is going to be emotional or depressing, especially if you’re a parent. I honestly thought I’d be overwrought with sadness when I visited, but I came out inspired and uplifted. Little Havens really is an incredible place full of joy and love and everyone who work and volunteer there really ensure that it is all about ‘Making every day count.’ After my visit I just wanted MKM Chelmsford to help Little Havens continue to help children and their families across Essex live their lives to the fullest and thought an event like this might just do the job.”
“I have been completely overwhelmed by the response from our clients; we sold out in one day! We are currently looking for any local businesses or individuals who would like to help us raise as much money as possible for Little Havens by donating something for the Auction. There is a nod to sport at the event; so we know sporting memorabilia would go down very well, but any items that are donated to the auction will be greatly appreciated.”
Claire Wilson, Community Fundraiser Havens Hospices said,
“We are bowled over by the enthusiasm Mark and the MKM team have shown in organising this event. Everyone at Little Havens is extremely grateful, because we don’t charge a penny for our care and that is only possible because of donations made and fundraising events held by people like Mark and his team.”
