Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock raised £2.5K for Little Havens Hospice with their Annual Christmas Santa Sleigh Campaign.
Santa travelled the streets of Thurrock in his sleigh between the 10th and 20th December collecting money from the local community. The Rotary Club with a little help from Santa raised a fantastic £10,000 for local charities including Little Havens. Club President Dr Kevin Watkins handed a cheque for £2.5k to Community Fundraiser, Peter Hall, at the Rotary Club lunch last Thursday [02/02/17].
Dr Kevin Watkins, Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock President, said:
“We were delighted to raise such a wonderful sum from our annual Santa Sleigh Street collection in December. We really look forward to distributing the monies raised at our annual presentation lunch and we were thrilled to be able to include Little Havens Hospice once again as one of our principal beneficiaries. Little Havens clearly is a very special place which does fantastic work caring for local families – we are only too pleased to be able to do our bit to help.”
Peter Hall, Community Fundraiser Havens Hospices, commented:
“Little Havens can only exist because of the kindness of our supporters. By making this generous donation the Rotary Club and residents of Thurrock are helping children living with a serious illness be as pain free and comfortable as possible and helping us fulfil our promise of ‘Making every day count'"
