The Aldborough Masonic Lodge has raised more than £1,000 for Little Havens Hospice.
In October the Aldborough Masonic Lodge 5586, based in Upminster, held their annual Ladies Festival at Langdon Hills Golf Club and raised £1,202 for Little Havens Hospice in Thundersley which cares for babies, children and teenagers from across Essex with life-limiting conditions.
The event was hosted by the group’s President Lady, Brenda Williams, in memory of her husband Bro. David Williams. Little Havens is a cause close to both Brenda and David as their Granddaughter, Elena Evenden, was cared for there before she died in 2008, aged six. Since then the whole family have supported the charity with fundraising activities.
On Tuesday 29th November Brenda and Almoner of the Lodge, Paul Cash, visited Little Havens to present a cheque to the charity’s Community Fundraiser Peter Hall.
“I was delighted to be able to visit Little Havens recently with Brenda to present our Lodge’s donation in person from our recent Ladies Festival. We were made to feel really welcome and there was such a great atmosphere while we were there. Little Havens clearly is a very special place which does fantastic work caring for local families and we are only too pleased to be able to do our bit to help.”
“I would like to thank Brenda and Paul and everybody else at Aldborough Lodge for their support. At Little Havens Hospice we help by controlling pain and medication, offering respite, and caring for children at the end of their lives. We never charge a penny for this care and that simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of the local community including many of our local masonic lodges.”
