furry four-legged friends fundraising success

28 October 2016

A veterinary group in Havering has raised almost £1,500 in just six months for Little Havens Hospice.

The Wylie Veterinary Centre, which has practices on Hall Lane in Upminster and Abbs Cross Lane in Hornchurch, has been supporting Little Havens Hospice as its charity of the year since April and has already raised £1,500 for the hospice, helping us to care for  babies, children and teenagers who have life-limiting conditions.

Staff at the practices have been donating £1 from every vaccine given during April to Little Havens and they also took part in ‘A Bit of a Royal Do’ to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday in June, which saw pets and staff dress up like royalty and sold baked goods to customers.

They are now planning some festive fundraising throughout December by encouraging staff (and pets) to dress up in their favourite Christmas jumper for the day, to help raise further funds for Little Havens.

Richard Doyle, Owner of Wylie Vets, said,

“On behalf of all the staff, customers and animals here at The Wylie Veterinary Centre it is my pleasure to be able to support Little Havens as our local Childrens Hospice. I know that Little Havens does amazing work caring for children and families across Essex. As part of the community we are only too happy to do our bit for such a great cause, and I want to encourage other businesses and individuals to get on board and do their bit to help Little Havens continue the great work they do.”

Peter Hall, Community Fundraiser for Little Havens, said,

“I would like to thank all staff at both The Wylie Veterinary Centres for their fantastic support! Little Havens provides respite breaks, symptom management and end of life care to children and families from across Havering and Essex. We don’t charge a penny for this care and that’s only possible thanks to the support of local people and businesses like The Wylie Veterinary Centre. I’m so excited to hear about their festive fundraising and can’t wait to see how it all goes.”
