Businesses and residents in Thundersley are joining together 6th-12th June to support Havens Hospices, which incorporates Little Havens Hospice for children and Fair Havens adult hospice, which is based in Chalkwell.
Working together, the aim will be to mark the Queen’s historic milestone whilst raising money for the charity through raffles, donations, cake sales, a photo booth and competitions like ‘Name the Corgi.’
The initiative is being led by Bodkins Wool Shop and Hunt Roche Estate Agents. Hunt Roche director, Matt Byford says, “We really believe in community spirit so we’re more than happy to get behind this ‘Royal Do’ to support Havens Hospices and the amazing care it gives to so many local families.
“The residents and businesses of Thundersley have really thrown their enthusiasm behind this week of events and the village will be awash with red, white and blue to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.”
Just some of the businesses already signed up include The White Hart pub, Tandoori Parlour, Bodkins Wool, Pinaglis Tea Rooms, Dan’s Newsagents, Green Oasis Café, Just Nails Studio, Hart Pet Supplies, Castle Opticians, Hairwaves, Village Cards and Cockerpoodledoo.
The Havens Hospices butterfly mascot Betsy will be visiting Kingston Primary and Thundersley Primary Schools on 10th June, and the charity’s ‘Queen Elizabeth’ will pop into the village shops on Saturday 11th June between 2-3pm.
The Thundersley Town Team is also encouraging residents to take their lunch outside to culminate the week of celebrations, with a picnic on Thundersley Common between 2-5pm.
