A veterinary group in Havering is organising a series of ‘paw-some’ fundraising events after selecting Little Havens Hospice as its charity of the year.
Wylie Vets, which has practices on Hall Lane in Upminster and Abbs Cross Lane in Hornchurch will be supporting Little Havens Hospice from 1st April this year until the end of March 2017. Staff at the practices have plans to raise money by organising a ‘pampered pooch’ photo competition, a sponsored dog walk, a raffle and by taking part in the charity’s ‘Bit of a Royal Do’ fundraising campaign in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday. They will also be making a donation of £1 for every vaccination they carry out. All of the money raised will be donated to Little Havens Hospice which cares for babies, children and teenagers with a life-limiting illness.
Richard Doyle, Owner of Wylie Vets, said,
“Here at Wylie Vets we are very much part of the community and recognise that Little Havens is also part of our community too, caring for local children and families. When we visited the hospice we were touched by the tremendous amount of care and compassion that was shown by all at Little Havens. It felt very much like a home from home which must bring so much comfort to the parents and children whilst going through such a difficult time. We feel honoured to be able to support this worthy charity.
“We are looking forward to helping to raise as much as possible at both our Upminster and Hornchurch practices, and want to encourage our customers to really get involved by supporting the fundraising activities we have planned.”
Peter Hall, Community Fundraiser for Little Havens, said,
“I really enjoyed my recent visit to Wylie Vets to meet some of their staff and their four-legged friends too. There are some great plans in place for fundraising throughout the year and I look forward to hearing how they get on. Little Havens provides respite breaks, symptom management and end of life care to children and families from across Havering and Essex. We don’t charge a penny for this care and that’s only possible thanks to the support of local people and businesses like Wylie Vets. So I’d like to thank everybody at both practices for choosing us as their charity of the year and for all their enthusiasm to get the fundraising started.”
