Love Island Star Surprises Families at Children’s Hospice

On Friday 26th April, a star from the cast of Love Island 2018 surprised families that are cared for by Essex’s only children’s hospice.

Jack Fowler, 23, who shot to fame on series four of the popular reality show joined staff at Little Havens Hospice in Thundersley to surprise some of their families. He spent the afternoon meeting and chatting with some of the children and their parents before going on a tour of the hospice and gardens and learning more about hospice care.

Following his visit Jack said,

“This was an experience I will never forget. Thank you to Little Havens for having me and showing me around your hospice – it is an incredible place. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the families who in my opinion are all superheroes.

“It was clear from speaking to them that whether it’s an hour, a day, a week or years everyone who works at Little Havens makes a huge difference to the youngsters they care for and their families for as long as they care for them; from the chef to the gardeners to the nurses and carers you are all a team of absolute angels and I feel privileged to have spent the day with you and hope to continue to support you.”

When a family are told that there is no cure for their child’s condition, Little Havens are there to help through symptom and pain management, offering short breaks and caring for children at the end of their lives. To be able to provide this free, specialist care the charity needs to raise over £46,000 every week.

Lauren Summers, Deputy Ward Sister at Little Havens added,

“We all very much enjoyed meeting Jack, when he visited us, and we’re thrilled that he wants to support us in the future. We can only exist because of the support of the community; so, to have the support of a TV Star like Jack is amazing. On behalf of everyone who works for Little Havens and the families that use our services, I would like to thank Jack again for joining us and we look forward to seeing him here again soon.”
