Havens Hospices has charity places for the world-famous race on Sunday 2nd October – an ideal chance for those who missed out on a ballot place.
The charity is looking for runners to join ‘Team Havens’ and pledge to raise £1600 to support the charity’s free palliative nursing and supportive care to children, young people, and adults across Essex.
The marathon, which takes in many of the capital’s historic landmarks, as well as new ones such as The Shard and London Eye, is a must for those wanting to complete the challenge of a lifetime.
Runners for the charity are supported every step of the way, from sign up to the start line. They can benefit from monthly group training runs, sports therapy sessions, running mentors, and access to a private Facebook group giving moral support and running advice. There’s also coach travel and cheering parties on the day.
Judy Grocott, Head of Fundraising at Havens Hospices says, “By joining ‘Team Havens’ for this prestigious running event, runners will be championing our frontline hospice care, which only exists because of the support and generosity of the local community.
“We will be there to support them all the way from registration to the finish line – Together, we’re ‘Making every day count’.”
In preparation for the big event, the charity is also offering fundraisers the chance to sign up for The Big Half on 4 September 2022 and pledge to raise £1750, which includes the entry fee to both events.
Havens Hospices includes Fair Havens in Southend, and Little Havens, the children’s hospice for Essex. The specialist care provided by the charity is completely free of charge and relies on the generosity of individuals.
