A Chalkwell children’s’ spa and party venue supported Little Havens Children’s Hospice in December, collecting both gifts and raising much-needed funds for the charity over the Christmas period.
Customers of Lila’s Spa were encouraged to leave a gift under a Christmas Tree for the hospice, which is the only place in Essex wholly dedicated to caring for babies, children and teenagers with complex and incurable conditions.
As a result of their clients’ generosity, Spa owner, Kelly Lancaster and her daughter, Lila were able to deliver two bags filled with pyjamas, socks and toiletries to Little Havens on Christmas Eve.
As well as this, Lila had 11 inches chopped off her hair at The Wild Hare Colour Specialists, which raised a further £430 for the hospice. The hair has now been sent to The Little Princess Trust to be made into a wig.
Kelly Lancaster said, “Supporting a local children’s charity was something we wanted to do to enable local people to donate to help even just a little, and having the shop as a drop off point made it an easy thing for people to do.”
“We collected items for Little Havens to remind people that Christmas is a time for giving,” she continued, “and it was great to see little ones come in for their pamper appointment with something in their hand they had brought along to put under the tree.”
Havens Hospices Community Fundraiser, Emma Young said, “We’re very grateful for the support of Lilia’s Spa. Little Havens must raise over £46,000 a week to be there for everyone who needs us and this would not be possible without the consistent, generous support of businesses like theirs – they are truly helping us continue to fulfil our promise of ‘Making every day count’ for the children and families we care for.”
