Grab a seat, a drink and get your best quiz brains at the ready and take part in the Havens Hospices Virtual Quiz this Tuesday night to raise vital funds for local hospice care.
The next brain-busting virtual quiz will take place on Tuesday 19th May at 8pm and will once again be presented by the charity’s Patron and Radio Essex presenter Su Harrison.
So far hundreds of people have joined the quiz each week and raised over £7,000 to help Havens Hospices care for people with complex or incurable conditions.
Actress and Patron for Havens Hospices, Sophie Austin, known for her role as Lindsey Butterfield in Hollyoaks and her partner, singer and X-Factor winner Shayne Ward, made an appearance in last week’s quiz to ask a bonus question. The charity also has some more surprise celebrity appearances lined up in the coming weeks, including an Essex Olympian.
Tanya King, Philanthropy Manager says, “Thank you to everyone who has supported the charity so far by signing up to take part in our quiz – it truly helps us continue ‘Making every day count’ for everyone we care for.
“After having to cancel and postpone our major fundraising events due to Coronavirus, the charity is coming up with more ways to fundraise safely so we decided to set up a fun virtual quiz for anyone to take part in, from the comfort of their own homes. At a time like this, when we are feeling isolated from each other, it is important to feel connected to the local community.
“This is a tough time for the hospices as our income is falling just as demand for our specialist care is increasing. The hospices are continuing to care for patients at the end of their life and also supporting the NHS by opening up more beds at Little Havens and Fair Havens for children or adults who need to be discharged from hospital. We don’t charge a penny for our care – and that’s only possible because of donations from people like you.
“So if you are looking for something to do at home, why not sign up to our quiz, have lots of fun and support your local hospice at the same time?”
The Havens Hospices Virtual Quiz will take place every Tuesday until Tuesday 23rd June. These general knowledge quizzes are sure to keep everyone entertained during the Coronavirus lockdown especially for those who can’t attend their usual pub quiz.
Entry to the quiz is a minimum donation of £3 person and to sign up visit www.havenshospices.org.uk/virtualquiz. Once registered, an email will be sent with details on how to enter the quiz.
Every gift, no matter how large or small, means so much to the families and patients Havens Hospices care for. £150 could provide a night of emergency respite care at Little Havens for families affected by this pandemic. Supporters can still organise safe fundraising events from the comfort and safety of their home – for a list of ideas, head to www.havenshospices.org.uk/havensherobingo
