Members of Colchester Golf Club have been raising money for Little Havens Hospice as their charity of the year.

The group – led by Club Captain Jim Wilkinson – has held a series of exciting fundraising events over the last twelve months, including a cheese and wine evening, a raffle and a Golf Day.

They have raised £3,553 for the charity which provides palliative nursing and supportive care to babies, children and teenagers living with complex or incurable conditions across Essex.

Little Havens was chosen by Jim who explained, “I am a parent and grandad and so it was important to me that we raised money for a charity that really benefits local children. Little Havens makes a big difference to the lives of the children that it cares for so it’s a great and very worthwhile charity to support.”

Jim presented a cheque to Zoe Jay and Stephen Hall from Little Havens.

Zoe said, “Thank you to Jim and everyone at Colchester Golf Club who have worked so hard and showed so much enthusiastic support for Little Havens Hospice over the past year. We don’t charge a penny for our care and we must raise over £40,000 each week to be there for every baby, child and teenager who needs us. Our hospice care can only exist because of the support and generosity from the community – so thank you for raising so much.

Little Havens is part of Havens Hospices which also includes The J’s and Fair Havens. To find out how you can help them to continue ‘Making every day count’ for the children and adults that they care for, please click here.
