Darren chose to support the new Fair Havens Hospices specifically as he and other members of the club have friends and family who have experienced the care of the charity over the years.
“I held numerous golf days and events including an Only Fools and Horses Fundraising night,” said Darren. “I hoped to raise about £5000 overall and so I was astonished and overwhelmed to have raised more than twice that amount towards the new hospice.”
Havens Hospices needs a new adult hospice to continue providing care and support to individuals with a life limiting illness, and their families. It will incorporate 16 in-patient bedrooms, increased Day Hospice services, additional family support and beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds.
Sally Bridger, Community Fundraiser said,
“Havens Hospices would like to thank Darren Knight, members of the Ballards Gore Golf Club, and all the family and friends who have supported his fundraising for the new Fair Havens Hospice during his year as club captain. We appreciate how much work goes into organising so many events, and £10,315 is a truly amazing amount to have raised.”
