Fair Havens Hospice at Home team win at Pride of Essex Awards

A nursing team at Havens Hospices has scooped a top award, celebrating influential, selfless and generous heroes of the county.

Fair Havens Hospice at Home was awarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement- Community Award’ at the recent Pride of Essex for its commitment to providing care in patient homes during the Coronavirus pandemic. The announcement was made during a virtual ceremony which staff watched at home with their family.

Hospice at Home Sister Paula Reid-Smart says, “I am so pleased and proud of the team. It is thoroughly deserved, especially because of the commitment and resilience they have shown during difficult times this year. We’ve had an increase in referrals since the pandemic, so we’re doing all we can to help patients stay in their own homes. This award acknowledges their hard work in making this happen.”

Basildon-based company Utilize and fundraising group Thundersley Superheroes Alliance were both also recognised in the HOPE- Heroes of Pandemic Essex – category for their support shown to Havens Hospices during 2020.
