The company based in Duke Street, Chelmsford is a proud supporter of Havens Hospices by taking part in the charity’s ‘Wills All Year Round’ campaign as well as its Race4Bussiness event fundraiser.
The Wills All Year Around campaign sees local solicitors give their time and expertise for free in exchange for donations to support hospice care for adults, young people and children across Essex living with complex or incurable conditions. The suggested donations are £90 for an individual Will, £150 for a pair of Mirror Wills or £50 for a for a codicil. Donations are collected on behalf of the client which gets passed onto Havens Hospices.
Ivana Sidey at Backhouse Solicitors says, “Backhouse have been proud to support Havens Hospices for many years now. Over that time, we’ve both grown in size, but it has remained important to us to do what we can for the local community. It means a lot that we can support each other.
“We understand that there are many preconceptions about Will writing being old-fashioned or intimidating but, as it’s the only way to guarantee your loved ones are looked after, we’ve always believed that it should be as accessible as possible. With that in mind, we have guides and questionnaires to help you before an appointment and will always arrange to see you at your convenience and draft a Will that reflects your wishes. We’ll always explain everything in a straightforward way, and nothing will be signed until you’re absolutely happy.
“We have a very busy Private Client department but are lucky enough to have a real rapport with our clients who Backhouse will often help with important life events such as moving house. We’re privileged to be able to draft Wills to reflect these big changes but to also be able to help when times are more difficult. Havens Hospices often play an important role at these times and we’re proud to support a charity that makes such a difference to people’s lives.
“We are here to help you so please feel free to give us a call on 01245 893400 to book an appointment.”
Over the past year around £1.5 million has been raised from generous supporters leaving a gift in their Will, helping to fund the charity’s specialist palliative and supportive care.
Louise Gloyne, Head of Philanthropy at Havens Hospices says: “Last year legacies helped pay for the care of one in three of our patients across Havens Hospices. Leaving a gift in your Will to Havens Hospices means we can continue to provide free specialist hospice care for future generations.
“A huge thank you to Backhouse and all our participating solicitors across Essex who donate their time and fees in support of the hospice and to those who decide to leave a gift in their Will for the hospices – our care can only exist because of the support and generosity of the community.”
