Canvey Fire Station raises funds for Little Havens

Fire crews at Canvey Fire Station have donated £830 to local charity Little Havens following their festive fundraising event in December.

As parents themselves, they were inspired to raise money for the hospice and often drive past on their shifts. Not only did the fire station raise a total of £831.90 but they also kindly donated over 100 Christmas chocolate selection boxes to the hospice.

Little Havens provides palliative nursing and supportive care to babies, children and teenagers living with complex or incurable conditions across Essex.

Terry Trayler, the Fire Station’s Temporary Crew Manager said, “We decided to donate to Little Havens Hospice because the help they give to those in need, not just the patients but also the families, is tremendous.

“We wanted to contribute towards that work somehow and felt by running an event in their aid would not only do that but also spread the word about work they do. We hope to continue working with Havens Hospice for future events so they can continue help others.”

Community Fundraiser, Sally Bridger accepted the donation this week and said: “We would like to express our gratitude to Canvey Fire Station for organising this great event and for their support in raising this much needed sum of money. Donations like these really help us to continue to provide free specialist care for families across Essex – we only exist because of the support and generosity of the community.”
