After having to cancel its annual Family Fun Festival which was due to take place on 20th September in Priory Park, Southend, Havens Hospices has put together a virtual Family Fun Festival activity pack so supporters can hold their own fun festival at home instead, anytime in September.
The pack includes everything needed to create a festival including bunting, a music playlist, food and drink recipes and family-friendly games and activities. The pack costs £5 and will help the charity continue to provide free palliative and supportive care to adults, children, and their families across Essex.
Jane Hopkins, Voluntary Income Area Team Leader, who organises the Family Fun Festival event hopes everyone in the community who usually attends in Priory Park can support the charity at home this year after the charity’s income has taken a big hit due to the pandemic: “We were sad we had to cancel our Family Fun Festival this September which sees around 2,000 people descend to Priory Park to have lots of fun and support Havens Hospices so we thought, why should the fun be cancelled – let’s bring the festival vibes to everybody’s home instead.
“Our family festival fun pack includes lots of fun activities to bring family and friends together at home – following social distancing guidelines of course – and every virtual pack downloaded will help us continue ‘Making every day count’ for every one we care for. We are also thrilled that a few of our usual stall holders have kindly provided activities for our activity pack so you can enjoy some of the usual activities at home as well as some new ones. So, download our pack today get the festival started and support local hospice care so we can continue to be here for everyone who needs us.”
