About the In Patient Unit

Fair Havens In Patient Unit, is situated in Prittlewell, Southend-on-Sea, overlooking Priory Park. Fair Havens has modern, accessible facilities and ample, free parking – day and night – making it as easy as possible to make the most of your time with your loved ones.

Everyone who chooses to stay at Fair Havens has a private room, with an ensuite bathroom, and direct access to their own outside patio area, which connects to the wider garden space. The rooms are also equipped with hoists and are wheelchair accessible.

Care and support at Fair Havens is highly personalised, based on the wishes and choices of each person. We always start by asking, ‘What matters to you?’ and by listening carefully to what you tell us. Our team of specialist care staff, nurses, doctors, cooks, therapists, and counsellors are here to provide whatever works best for you and the people who are important to you, so no opportunity is wasted, and you can make the most of every day of your life.

Fair Havens In Patient Unit provides:

  • Assessment and management of physical symptoms that are proving difficult to control, such as pain, nausea, vomiting, and breathlessness. People often come in for a short stay for assessments like these and return home again, able to manage their symptoms and continue doing things they enjoy.
  • Respite care – where someone will come in for a short say that enables their carers to rest and recuperate.
  • Compassionate care for people approaching the end of their life – which includes support for partners, family members and friends, continuing into bereavement.
  • Specialist psychological, emotional, wellbeing, and spiritual support for people of all faiths and none.

Some patients may only require a stay for a few days before going home again. Some people choose to receive hospice care several times during their illness, depending on their condition and their wishes.
